The Mandarin Orange (Suntala) is the official national fruit of Nepal. It was formally chosen by the government to represent the nation's citrus heritage.
It was declared on April 12, 2024 (Chaitra 30, 2080 BS) by the Council of Ministers.
Nepal did not have an officially declared national fruit until the 2024 decision. The orange is the first fruit to hold this title.
In the 2024/25 season, Tanahun district alone produced oranges worth approximately Rs 425 million, making it a key production hub.
